EC (Import Export Code) is required by anyone who is looking to kick-start his/her import/export business in the
country. It is issued by the DGFT (Director General of Foreign Trade). IEC is a 10-digit code that has lifetime
validity. Predominantly importer merchants cannot import goods without the Import Export Code and similarly, the
exporter merchant cannot avail benefits from DGFT for the export scheme, etc., without IEC.
The Import Export Code (IEC) is a crucial registration for businesses involved in international trade in India. It
is issued by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) and is required for both importing goods into India and
exporting goods from India.
Documents Required:
PAN Card: Permanent Account Number (PAN) of the applicant or business.
Aadhaar Card: Aadhaar card of the applicant (for individuals).
Business Proof: Proof of business address (e.g., utility bill, rental agreement).
Bank Certificate: A bank certificate or canceled cheque to confirm bank account details.
Application Form: Completed IEC application form.
Partnership Deed: For partnership firms.
Certificate of Incorporation: For companies
